Vân Anh lives and works in New York City, on unceded Canarsie and Munsee Lenape Land, with their very cute dog, Apollo.

Work in progress, 2026 - ongoing

In the “The Ceremony Must Be Found”, Sylvia Wynter argues that Western modernity and coloniality dominate our modes of knowledge production, replicating themselves though the advancement of science and technology. This project is an attempt to speculate on human/ more-than-human relationships that are not predicated on this singular worldview. I explore artificial intelligence through speculative design and participatory research, developing “prototypes” of alternative AI futures that are imagined from the margins.

A speculative design project. 100 years after the War in Southeast Asia, descendants of refugees “lost” at sea attempt to reconnect with their remaining kin. A researcher stationed near what-was-once Vietnam starts discovering strange objects and becomes drawn to a distant song, inviting her to return home to the endless sea.
